To add to our growing firm and help with our backlog of projects, Young & Associates seeks a Civil/Environmental Engineer with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. The successful candidate will have interest and experience in all facets of Civil Engineering including a strong background in stormwater management design, land development/site layout and development plans/grading plan development/site infrastructure, and municipal engineering including regulatory permitting, interaction with regulatory agencies and interaction with private, municipal, and governmental clients, landowners and contractors.

 

Job Description:

  • Perform engineering work under the general direction of Senior Engineers to produce construction drawings and specifications and prepare regulatory permit packages
  • Prepare stormwater management and erosion and sedimentation pollution control plans
  • Prepare site layout plans and grading plans
  • Prepare site utility plans and coordinate with utility owners
  • Prepare project-related design engineer’s report and other necessary reports
  • Perform planning and design functions associated with municipal water and sanitary sewer projects, completion of Sewage Facilities Planning Modules, and various permits
  • Creating design drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D (proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is a requirement)
  • Conduct construction site inspections of progress of work
  • Experience with PA DEP, PennDOT, and USACE permitting
  • Regulatory analysis (zoning analysis, Land Development, and Subdivision, stormwater, grading)
  • Professional and technical writing, and great communication skills
  • Occasionally attend meetings, communicate with owners, consultants, and contractors

 

Education/Skill Requirements & Character Traits:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent is required with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • E.I.T. required – P.E. registration preferred
  • Communications Proficiency: Good verbal and written communication ability
  • Familiar to proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil design software
  • Familiar with various hydraulic and hydrology computer modeling programs (i.e. HydroCAD, HECHMS, GeoHECRAS, FlowMaster, etc…)
  • Basic Computer Skills using Microsoft Business Office 365 (i.e. Word and Excel)
  • Office Professionalism, ability to multitask
  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Drug-free
